Lawson Phyllis

Phyllis Lawson was born in London, but now lives and works in Brussels.
She studied painting and life drawing at WILLESDEN Art College.
Some years later, she met the artist Josef Herman who became her tutor and life-long friend.
He encouraged her to “ unlearn “ what she had been taught at Art College and helped her to find her own style of painting.
Lawson can be described as a figurative, expressionist painter.
She has never had anything other than confidence in her ability as a painter and has always believed in herself.
